Recently the Canadian government made changes to how it processes applications for study permits from international students. This concerns students who are applying directly to colleges and universities from overseas, placing a provisional cap on the total number. The cap is intended to reduce approved study permits by 35%.
It is important to note, however, that these changes do not affect applications to Braemar College. As a secondary school, Braemar College does not have a DLI (Designated Learning Institution) number. Our students will not be included in any provincial quota system. And, according to the IRCC’s own website, ‘study permit renewals will not be impacted’. This means Braemar College graduates can change their high school study permit to a postsecondary study permit without requiring a provincial declaration.
